This is a core module for MArabic students, taken during the year abroad. The module enables you to develop your own audio, video or on-line media project while on your study year abroad, addressing in Arabic a theme or subject area that you have chosen in consultation with the module convenor: it could be a work of creative fiction or documentary in nature. The project builds on your first-year foundational learning within the MArabic as well as your language learning and experiences in your year-abroad country. You will be required to have completed the core ARA1033 Elementary Arabic and ARA2009 Living and Communicating in the Arab World modules before embarking on this module. Media skills such as filmmaking, sound recording and editing are not a prerequisite. Video and audio may be recorded on basic consumer-grade equipment such as smart phones or tablets. You will be supported in the development of the project by the Module Convenor and also the Arabic language colleagues at IAIS. Support will also be regularly available by e-mail and Skype.
