Innovation Centre Marketing Office

Kate is currently responsible for the planning & delivery of all the Widening Participation and Outreach events and activity within the college, including management of the Pathways to Law programme. Before this role, Kate worked in the central Student Recruitment and Outreach team, organising and facilitating both recruitment and outreach activity aimed at prospective students.

Her main role involves working with a number of local schools and colleges to raise students’ aspirations, encourage progression to Higher Education, and promote the study of social sciences at undergraduate level. To achieve this, the department organises on-campus and school-based events throughout the year, working mainly with students aged 16-18, but also with primary and secondary school children.

Kate’s other role is Project Coordinator for Pathways to Law at the University of Exeter. Pathways to Law is a national initiative funded by The Sutton Trust and the University of Exeter, which aims to support academically-able students aged 16-18 from disadvantaged backgrounds who are interested in a career in law. Sixth-form students from schools and colleges across Devon, Cornwall, Somerset and Dorset, are invited to take part in a two-year intensive programme whilst studying for their A levels, which involves attending academic sessions at the university, a work experience placement, visits to legal institutions, e-mentoring from current law undergraduates and an opportunity to attend the Sutton Trust national Pathways Conference in the summer.
