Professor Maribel Fierro

Professor Maribel Fierro appointed as Visiting Al-Qasimi Professor in Islamic Studies

The Centre for the Study of Islam is delighted to welcome Professor Maribel Fierro, Research Professor at the CSIC (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Madrid) as the 2019-2020 Al-Qasimi Professor of Islamic Studies.

Professor Fierro's research focuses on the intellectual history of the Islamic West (eighth—fifteenth centuries), with special attention to law, religion, historiography, and political thought. She is also interested in political history, representation of violence, forgeries and gender studies.

Her activities in the CSI include giving lectures and seminars, and organising a major international workshop in March 2020.
